This fall I have had the pleasure of working with and meeting many great musicians and nice people. While holding my post at the Karelia UAS I cannot tour all the time (also for family reasons I have had to cut slightly the amount of concerts abroad), but even more I have enjoyed these opportunities I have had lately.
But October brought also some dark clouds over my family, when my dad left us, after a few weeks' illness. It was devastating and even when we had some weeks to prepare ourselves for the worst that could happen, it wasn't easy for any of us.
The funeral was held a few weeks later at the Honkanummi Chapel and the commemoration at my dad's house here in Helsinki. Our hearts are still heavy, but the life has to continue...Rest In Peace dad, you will be remembered !

in November we had the great Peter Hertmans as our guest at Karelia UAS! Peter is a fantastic guitarist and well-trained composer who has worked with many many other fantastic jazz musicians. He works at the LUCA School of Arts in Leuwen/Brussels and we had the pleasure of having him as a teacher from Erasmus Exchange program.
Peter held master classes to our students, and we played a concert together at the Sirkkala Auditorium in Joensuu.
The students were pushed to their limits (and over!!) but the result was great!
